Gintama has one of the best humour in anime. The story follows a world which attacked by aliens and every samurai surrenders to them. But Gintama is the only samurai left. This anime is dark and amazing comedy throughout the series. 

Rurouni Kenshin is completely the opposite of the elusive samurai, the series follows a man who once was an assassin. Now he travels to Japan searching for peace and atonement. He helps people on his way and continues his journey for Atonement.

Samurai Champloo is similar to the elusive samurai in terms of comedy and the way this anime blends new concepts with old Japan is interesting to see. This series follows the journey of a samurai who was an outcast, he travel with a waitress.

It is an interesting and underrated anime on this list. This anime has amazing action and violence sequences. The story follows an orphan boy who's running from a vicious assassin, a skilled bodyguard also travelling with the boy to ensure his safety.

Vinland Saga is one of the best anime out there to watch. The story is completely different from Elusive Samurai but the characters feel a little bit similar in some manner. The story follows a young kid who lost his father in front of his eyes.
